Paper Tiger

The map is not the territory - the picture is not the thing - you can't eat a recipe.

Anyone who has ever been tasked with hiring knows that what's on paper is but a veiled hint at who the person is.

Mitt's got a perfect resume. On paper he should be a easy pick.  He has experience, success, good looks and good hair.  His family is perfect.

But he is Mr. Stiff.  He just doesn't get it.

Newt won big by attacking.  But Newt won on his attacks on the welfare state and the liberal press.  Newt is attacking Obama and the liberal culture.  Newt catches on to what people want.

Mit apparently thought, "Attacks work - I should start attacking too."    Mitt Romney: Newt Gingrich is a ‘failed leader,’ ‘disgrace’

That is not a good tactic.  Mitt should be attacking Obama and the liberal culture.  He should say something like "Newt's right, but I can do it better".

I don't think Romney will get the nomination.

OK but are the other contenders, mainly Newt, electable in the General Election? Unfortunately, there are many who still don't realize that the biggest problem facing this Nation is the current 'occupant' of the White House. B.O.'s disingenuous treatment of the Keystone Project should serve as a harbinger of what we may expect from him as a "lame duck"! The latest polling data, that I've seen, still gives Romney a comfortable margin over Newt for nominee but gives Newt a slight edge over Romney as the one most electable. However,at this point, polling data is very fluid, to say the least! A critical analysis of B.O.'s promises verses his delivery should render him as not electable but, so far,the data does not bear this out. I will certainly feel better if and when the Republicans have made a cogent choice and all efforts are then directed toward extrication of the big problem at 1600 Pennsylvania!

  2. I don't mean this to be an endorsement of Newt - just observations on the election so far.

The only thing I know for sure is that I will vote againt Obama.

  3. Hey, there is no perfect contender! They each have their pluses and minuses. What I would like to see in the debates is less personal 'trashing' of each other and more, positive,'one-upmanship' as to how each may best solve the problems, currently festering,in the White House and Senate! I fear that the current direction will only serve to feed the liberal 'grist mill'! We,including them, will all lose if B.O.remains in power!

  4. Saturday night (after The Newt hits the ball outta the park,) Fox News Brit Hume said: "Believe me, Republicans in Congress will be terrified to run with this man for fear they will lose the House and the Senate. They will begin to do what they can to try to defeat him because they fear he can't win the election and, moreover, he may drag many down to defeat with him."

Brit sure knows how to rain on a parade.
