Jerky

Cured and dried meat.  It is a very old technique to preserve meat.  It also tastes good.

It's easy to do at home.  You can use good quality beef, and the bonus is that the less expensive cuts work the best.  Try eye of round with your favorite spices. I made some this weekend.   Beef jerky is supposed to keep for several months or longer at room temperature, but it will get eaten sooner.
