The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.Junior Senator (D-IL) - March 16, 2006
Oddly enough I agree with Anonymous (obviously not the usual fellow who calls himself Anonymous) If the Government can not get its stuff together and can not realize that spending more and more of money it does not have and the people it is supposed to represent does not have this country is doomed to failure. Much of the citizenry now has fallen into the belief that government is or has the answer to all their problems rather than the creator of them. It is getting close to the time to start over again--perish the thought.
