May: National Hamburger Month!
Like I needed an excuse to cook and eat hamburgers. But it is an opportunity to highlight my favorites and Nancy's too.
First up - the classic Cheeseburger.
I like just the basics - toasted bun, a burger made from a quarter pound of 80/20 chuck, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and good dill pickles. Nothing else.
It's important to get the right ratio of meat to bun and toppings. Too thick or too much meat does not necessarily make a better burger. And a big thick dry piece of bread will ruin the whole experience.
