Have You Seen This Monkey?

Woman assaulted and robbed of pet monkey
Kate Porras, Police Information Coordinator for the Grand Junction Police Department, said, "She and this suspect had agreed to meet in the parking lot of the hotel at about at 6 o' clock this morning to make the transaction. Obviously, he decided he had other plans for her."

The woman was selling her pet monkey, however the suspect had no intention of buying it.

"When he and she met he ended up pepper spraying her, grabbing the monkey which was in a carrier at the time and then taking off," Porras said.
But wait, there's more. Here's the suspect description.
The woman described the suspect as a middle-eastern male, 35 to 40 years old, 5’5″ tall, thin build with a short beard. He was wearing glasses, a blue shirt and possibly a vest. (emphasis added)
Could this be some sort of terrorist operation right here in Grand Junction?

  1. I thought (yes from time to time I actually engage in brain activity) that it was against the law to have primates as pets.

I remember in the olden days there were advertisements in the back of comic books for "pet monkeys".

So how does one go about getting a "pet monkey" ? And furthermore why?

  2. " A smart monkey doesn't monkey with another monkeys monkey."

... as you can tell, it's time for another cup of coffee...
