Shut down - day 2

Folks are holding steady here at LTGL headquarters.  The SPAM supply is adequate, but we are running a little bit low on chicken flavored ramen noodles.

We've set the squirrel traps and we are thinking about putting out the crayfish pots.

In other news-

“Remember: The people telling you a government shutdown is a disaster are the same ones who told you 3 weeks ago that we had to invade Syria.”

Obama Administration Specifically Denied Exception to Permit Veterans to Attend WWII Memorial
Before we go any further, let us note once again how contrived it is to shut down entryways to a wide open space out in the middle of a park.

And yet the erected artificial barriers to block people from walking through outdoor scenery.
Voila! Now we can pretend a memorial standing unsupervised out in the open is a "National Park" or "Open Air Museum" and close it to pedestrian traffic (and people can in fact just walk through this thing in their normal transversing of the city). Now, that out of the way: They then took the next step. When they were informed that the Honor Flight was on the way, and that they should make one exception for the veterans of WWII and open up the artificial barriers they had erected to make a political point, they refused.

GOP “Anarchists” Now Talking About Reopening…National Parks?

Bureaucrats at tiny federal agency FMCS buy legions of luxuries with purchase cards.
One federal employee leased a $53,000 take-home car with taxpayer money in apparent defiance of federal regulations and regularly billed the government for service at shops such as BMW
Government employees used federal purchase cards to order items such as a $560 Bose stereo and $1,490 for two high-definition televisions that could not be located. All of these examples happened at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, an obscure runaway government agency where the median annual salary is $120,000.

  1. Ramen Noodles always run low at our house, even when the Gov. is in operation!

  2. I found some of the missing funds - it turns out the #2 guy at the EPA was spending it:

PS - if you have seen the article about the $100 K outhouse in Alaska... it IS there, however since the door is now locked, people are just peeing on the tree behind it (like we have done for 30 years...). BYO TP as needed.
